This right is about choosing who we meet or work with. We are all free to start or join groups, whether they be unions, political parties, clubs, community groups, activist organisations, or whatever.
This provision protects collective action. It means the government cannot stop people from joining together for a lawful purpose or undermine movements by banning or harassing them.
