NZCCL has no paid staff, so your contribution will be entirely spent on the website, administration expenses and overheads, and, if necessary, the use of experts as advisers. Any surplus will be placed in a legal fighting fund to support worthy causes.

Cost of Membership

  • Single – $30
  • Family (members of the same household) – $35
  • Unwaged, superannuitants & students – $16

Family membership is a discounted rate. Each family member must fill out a separate application form and, once accepted, will have all the rights and duties of any other member.

How to Join

  1. Please fill out and submit our online application. It includes instructions on how to make payment.
  2. Your application will be considered at the next meeting of the Executive Committee and you will be advised of the outcome.


We are collecting your personal information in order to enrol you as a member of the NZ Council for Civil Liberties and to be able to contact you with communications from the Council. 

Your information will not be shared with any other person or group beyond the Executive Committee of the Council, except as necessary for the purposes of your membership. This includes storing it in Google Mail/Drive and in our newsletter system.
